Hello folks,

I wonder if attacks with klingon or romulan sidearms(disruptors) are allways considered as deadly attacks and thereore generate thread if performed by a player characters, or not?

Nope, Disruptors also have a Stun and Kill Setting. Unless noted in a Special Rule, all Weapons in STA are treated as if they have a Stun and Kill option.

Agreed; with the exception of FASATrek, all the "Star Trek" RPGs I'm aware of (LUG, Decipher) have disruptors with multiple settings, although all but one of those (heavy stun or equivalent) is meant for killing effect. I felt that this was a nice expansion that was offered for GMs/Narrators; although Klingons/Romulans and the like would usually (at least if we're sticking with canon versions of such hostile species) set their weapons for kill, the stun option offered the GM/Narrator at LEAST the opportunity to avoid inflicting instant death in the event of a crap roll or two on the players' parts.

Haha, I don't think I ever saw a Klingon or Romulan use the stun setting on TV...but good to know the setting exists in game :-)
