Core with updated errata?

posted May 23, 2018 10:26:48 by sword3274
My apologies if this has been asked.

I have a Core rulebook that seems to be without the first round of errata (July 2017) but I have been told that updated pdfs do incorporate that errata. My question is, does anyone know if there updated printing of the core books that have the errata in them?

If I am to buy a new core book, I'd like to get a Collector's Edition, but I'd rather not spend the money on one of those to find out it doesn't have the errata in it.

Collectors editions in the Borg Cube contained the first round of errata. I can't guarantee the Collector's Edition core books available on their own contain or don't contain errata either way.

Not directly related to your question, but maybe a helpful hint: the quickest way to check if a book is the errata'ed edition is to turn to page 205 and see if it's a short Warp table (no errata), or the long Warp table (the errata'ed one).

How "short" would the table be? Mine goes to Warp 9 - how much more is there since the revised Warp Speeds of TNG hold Warp 10 to be impossible?

If you have warp 1,2,3,4 etc. through 9 without breaks you have the updated version of the text. The original text skips some warp factors on the table.

You can also check the back cover copy. If you check the third bullet and see 'neighbours', it's the first printing.

Well, I know I have the first printing - I've got the truncated Warp Factor section on page 205.

Many of the copies I see for sale are shrinkwrapped, though, so I can't see page 205, but @JimJohnson - that's a brilliant way to check! Thank you! From what I can see there's a different spelling ("neighbors") on the corrected edition. Do you know if this also apply to the Collector's Edition? Every pic I've seen of the CE shows "neighbors" on the back.

Is there an exchange program for stores that have the earlier printing?

That would be sweet Tim, but I haven't heard of one if there is. I wonder if Modiphius could help with that?

Battlefront provided paste in replacements for segments of text that could update an older printing version of the rules.

Heck, that would be cool, Tim. I sent an email asking about options. So I guess we'll see! *crosses fingers*
