Combat Tasks in Red Alert Rules

posted Apr 13, 2018 15:18:58 by Shran

I recently had a chance to look over the new Red Alert rules. For single characters, this is all very familiar. However, some Tasks are notably different. My question is: Are these Tasks supposed to replace the corresponding Tasks in the Core rulebook or are these exclusively to Red Alert? I realize I can do whatever I want as a GM, but I would still like to know the intention.

For example: The "Sprint" Task is D0 Fitness+Security, and you move one Zone plus an additional Zone per Momentum spent. In Red Alert, the "Sprint" Task is just moves you up to three Zones. No roll required. The Red Alert variant seems more tabletopy since you usually want your entire army move at the same speed.

Not directly related, but Science is missing from the Discipline descriptions.

Grouping a lot of minor NPCs in Squads is nice though. I will use this for my normal games.

The rules for Red Alert are for a miniatures combat game and are not strictly interchangeable with the RPG.
