Reactions - Protect

posted Dec 17, 2017 14:09:18 by yskonyn
The way this would play out is unclear to me:
Alf attacks Bert, Charlie is allied to Bert and declares he reacts with Protect to Alf’s attack.
Now Alf’s skilltest turns into a Struggle testing against D2 Challenging.
Does Charlie also roll at all in this struggle and if so against what?

From what I understand it is Charlie who now parries or makes an acrobatics check, turning the fight into a struggle as always when someone uses a defend reaction. Charlie's test starts as a D2 test (+ further modified due to the regular conditions) whereas the attacker's test is the normal D1 check (+ modifiers for conditions). So, it is Bert who does not make any skill check anymore, not even when Charlie fails at his check. If Charlie is succesful, he is the new target and now compares his momentum to Alf's momentum to see who won.

Hope that helps.

That helps, thank you. I find the wording a little weird in the book, but that might very well be because I am
Not a native english speaker. :)

Merry Xmas to all !

The rules are translated from Aquilonian, so sometimes the translation comes across wierd.

I thought they were in late vulgar nemedian (a variant of aklo), at least in the Von Junzt version.
