Geists and LHosts

posted Nov 05, 2017 19:29:51 by MarcelZons
Hey!
Apparently a Geist may "use" any remote as its hull to "live" in.

Is it possible to buy an LHost and let the own Geist use it as a body?
Thought that this may be possible as Cube 2.0 Jumps allow to use LHosts just as well as Remotes.

Not as a BAU activity (My understanding is canon says no) There are literally tens of thousands of dead people wanting that body. But there are some very creative hackers that might attempt it through various means with varying degrees of success . You'd have to remove the brain of the Lhost, replace it with remote control tech and pray to god your geist isnt hacked because this is essentially the same as getting Siri to drive your Ferrari and leaving a spare key under the dash. Highly, experimental, Prone to failure and essentially the same as telling ALEPH, Hi how about you have a spare body to spy on me with. Other reasons not to do this include ruinous financial costs, the single AI law and irritating the pope. Are the black labs experimenting with this, almost certainly. Will it be as successful as uplifting Narwals? Probably not.

Thanks for the reply!

On the other hand then (since it seems to be legitimate to have a Geist living in a normal remote shell), would it be allowed to have something similar to a Garuda Tacbot, but with very humanoid looks? Basically an Android as a Geist-shell, if you so will.

Sure. To get "passable as human", though, you're really looking at a Lhost (pretty much by definition). But something humanoid that looks artificial would work as a remote.

As I understand it the limit is not on the number of lhosts, but instead on the number of Resurrections.

So there doesn't seem to be any reason you couldn't have a Geist in an lhost (if you can afford it) just as you could have multiple lhosts if you have access to Cube 2.0 technology (making you functionally a Posthuman, 'though that may have additional rules support when we eventually get an ALEPH faction book).
