Monetary Adventure Rewards

posted Oct 04, 2017 06:30:13 by imperialparadox
I've found the guidelines for awarding experience points in the core book, but unless I'm mistaken, there's not really any guidelines for any payments that characters might receive for missions?

I'd assume that monetary rewards would be handled as Assets, but what would an appropriate amount be for a typical adventure? Are there any examples given anywhere?

It seems like the system doesn't really anticipate monetary rewards.

This really bugged my group, which is why I made an extensive set of houserules that allows for "normal" money to be used as rewards as well as a means of buying stuff.
I converted all items for this (took quite some time), but now it is a lot easier for my players ("So you want ammo? Fine, that's 20 Oceana per Reload.").

If you are interested, I can share my set of houserules via PM.

I'm a big fan of the acquisition system, and equipment in general('though I HATE the layout of that section).

It makes more sense in a micro-scarcity environment than traditional $ counting.

As far as game rewards are concerned, I'm going to do one of two things, either offering temporary boosts to Income (probably by saying "the payment for this mission sets your Income up to "X" which shows that the impact is greater for those with less money than those with more) and Assets.

I'm more keen to see examples of what O-12 employment usually pays (we don't have many examples in the existing Careers to calculate the Income expected for typical O-12 agents like the PCs).
