A New Group, and a Small Intro Story

posted Jun 27, 2017 14:29:22 by GreySeerThanquol
I recently got the Mutant Chronicles roleplaying game about 2 weeks ago.
I got a group of friends together along with my brother. There are about 6 players excluding me, as the GM. I believe I have a firm grasp on the rules, and I have been interested in Mutant Chronicles since I saw the somewhat cheesy movie (I enjoyed it nonetheless, B rated action is great to me). Of course, the lore is completely different than what was shown in the movie. I've read everything there is in the base rulebook, and I love it all. I've explained the basic principles of the MC universe to my friends, and they are pretty interested in it too. We created our characters using the amazing character creation given to us in the book. We all like how you are building a person, rather than just a simple stat sheet. All of my players have great backstories developed for their characters as well.
Right now we have a Brotherhood scholar, who was involved in some smuggling. He was caught, but forgiven with some penalty.
There is Whitestar freelancer. Who lives for the money and thrill of battle.
A Brotherhood Mortificator, who definitely prefers the shadows over social confrontation.
A Cybertronic smuggler, with a somewhat powerful criminal family.
And finally, a Bauhaus noble, who's family run afoul. His life is more or less of a trainwreck.
I have to get the 6th player's character made, which will be done the next time we meet.
The intro story is a fairly simple one. They are all taken up by the BLEU as hired mercenaries (for their "unique" skills, naturally). A Marshall explains to them that a local Bauhaus entertainment company has possibly been infiltrated by a rival Mishiman entertainment company. The Bauhaus company is hiding something nefarious, but it isn't discovered until the characters speak with the head of the Mishiman company. I am hoping this story takes them across the more scenic districts of Luna. As a whole, I am very excited for this!

(It may not matter, but the general age for all of my players is between 13 and 17)
Thank you very much!!

Sorry, but imo Bauhaus wouldn't 'lancer let investigate something like a corporation infiltration. And with two brothers, the Brotherhood would say, these are internal problems. Perhaps they (the freelancers) are hired to search for something near the Graveton Archipelago. Maybe are small settlement don't respond anymore, or transporter is lost. They (Bauhaus) use 'lancer, because sending Bauhaus troops may raise the tension in the Archipelago. And if the 'lancer don't return, sad. But thankfully they are (mostly) not from Bauhaus.

Ah yea. I did some thinking about that, but I did apply it in the context that the Bauhaus company may be hiding more than simple corporate secrets. Which is why the Brotherhood may be involved. As for the freelance-esque hiring of each character, the BLEU needed some inconspicuous people to launch an investigation. They couldn't risk sending corporate intelligence operatives incase the supposed Mishiman infiltrator had more info than they had initially thought.

One more thing (sorry): please, remember no Cyber is truly a Freelancer. He may think so, But most Cyber, especially TIFF, know it and use the Freelancers as disguise and still working as spy for Cybertronic.

Right right! I'll always remember that!
Thank you for the input! This will help me in constructing campaigns and stories for future games as well.
