How does Regeneration work?

One of my players recently got Regeneration, but I'm not sure exactly how it works.

The final paragraph on the card says that the player must eat Food equal to the damage healed within a couple of minutes or be Broken. Does that only refer to when you actually heal Damage, or also when you pay MP to heal Critical Wounds?

The Swedish rulebook states that the mutant need to eat Grub equal to the amount of MP that he used or he will be instantly broken and that it counts as non-typical.

So normally you don't heal damage or critical injuries unless you know that you have grub. It is a way to speed-up healing (normally you have to rest for four hours to heal from grub).

To heal critical injuries with regeneration can still be a good thing even though you don't have 2 or 4 grub. Because you heal the critical injury instantly, but after 1d6 minutes (typically after the battle) when you are suppose to eat the grub, you instead become broken but the critical injury is the non-typical one. Sure, being broken (again) is bad, but you avoided to go down during the battle and the non-typical critical injury is lethal, yes, but if the group has a good healer, it is easily fixed and has no healing time.
