Nathan and other Modiphius people:

Now that we have the 1.3 rules, do you feel there would be use in rerunning this initial mission under the new rules for comparison? And if we do (we're probably going to do it for our own camparison anyway), would you prefer the feedback on that here because it's for the Xerxes mission, or in the 1.3 thread?
I'm not crazy. I just use different logic than most people.

Hi. I'm finally getting to run the play test adventure. I see in 1.3 rules that the premade characters are no longer usable.
The new characters released in 1.3 aren't ensigns and a little too advanced for the adventure. Were the original ones updated and released any where?
I'm on my phone and reading through 53 pages is too much.
Thanks.

The ensign characters should have been in the same packet that the 1.3 rules were in, just as a separate PDF from the senior command staff.

@BruceBoragine - Nathan explained that the original "Ensign" characters should still be usable. I'm seem to recall something about perhaps not being fully updated, but I believe if you re-download the file they should be more than usable.

Yeah, the 1.36 packet (and the secondary fix download) includes new versions of the Xerxis pregens with attribute / discipline numbers that have been boosted to match the new group. They also were given blank underlined spaces for you to write in enough additional Traits, Focuses, and Talents (selecting them from other pregens) so those categories get equalized to.

Thanks. I found them. I've kept all of the emails I've received. It was in a separate update.

I more question. I see 2 different summaries, 2268 and 2371. Both cover some of the same areas, but are still different. 2268 only has Commanding Officer, but 2371 has CO and Xo, for example. 2268 has navigator and helm, 2371 doesn't.
Are they mutually exclusive, 2371 replacing 2268 or are they supposed to be used together.

Thanks.

Different bridge configurations for 23rd and 24th Century standards.

I'm wondering if after each phase of the playtest (or maybe after all playtesting is done and things move to release) if Modiphius would be kind enough to put all the adventures for all four playtest ships in a single download location for everybody. That way we can see (and even run through) what the other vessels experienced. :)

Speaking of which, did the four ship threads get removed, moved, or am I just going blind in my old age?

<update> Never mind I found them. Its own category way down on the list.

Read through the adventure and excited to get the group together. Unfortunately because of work and travel we won't make our run until the 26th which is cutting it close. However, after reading the adventure it looks like there is a pretty complicated set of tasks which run on a timeline. I attached my cheat sheet for the Lexington mission. I hope it might prove useful to anyone who wants to use it.

Thanks! I think I'll be running it next Friday. If so, it looks like this will come in handy!!!
Risk... risk is our business! That's what this starship is all about... that's why we're aboard her!

It's far less linear than Kenneth's timeline implies...
There are 9 distinct task-chains to complete...

Big issues:
A: Most of the repair tasks do not mention availability (or non-availability) of ship support dice.
B: The Subspace Comm is down; ships still have radio, so the Scene 4 prohibitions are, at best, problemation
C: Scene 4 is completely avoidable by sufficiently skilled crews. I used complications (and increased times) to prevent players from simply being able to warp off before scene 3.
D: Lack of a clear list of times and difficulties for the repairs.
E: The cause was guessed and found out by my players by good RP within minutes.

Note that I think a list in a table is a far better approach than Ken's somewhat misleading (but well meaning) flowchart, as all the stuff in the bottom left box is contemporary with the middle upper, and the right upper should be split into two or 3 boxes... I'm compiling one. (I plan to rerun it later)

Also - one extended task isn't given a progress track

My PC's this session: Captain Selek (Cmd), LCdr Vaoret (Engr), and Lt Anjar (Med). Ens Maggoffin (Bridge) made an appearance, as did Petty Officer Edward "Lucky" Hagowski (Security), and Ensign Keller (Engr). Two medical staff also got used (but not named). The Secondary Hull infirmary is run by an Ensign Nurse... and an Ensign Doctor is also aboard.

They started damage control immediately. It paced well, but the information, while present, was in a hard to find at need prose format.

It was fun...

Can't think of where else to put this...

I have a small local convention coming up in early March. Is it possible to run a play test of the game at a convention or is that a violation of policy?
