I still agree that Conan is not about making lots of stuff, but having now read through the Sorcery chapter and the talisman and powders rules, it seems that it is okay to make tactical and story-related stuff.
A broad skill to represent general practice handiness is good, but I think that there is a place for focusing the craft on individual crafts/materials and making the Talents more generically useful. A craft-savy character could customising weapons or armour and add qualities, scavenge materials to make a missile weapon load, make traps, know people in the trade, fix/break mechanisms, make a fake copy, etc.
Just as sorcerers make things that are tactically useful, so too can characters with a craft.
And proper treatment of Craft would also make more sense.
I see many more PCs in a Conan game due to their background stories having varieties of the Craft talents than People with Alchemy.
There are many reasons why a PC should have specific talents regarding crafting weapons, armors, buildings, boats, etc.
Mixing things and Making a Mason requiring to be first an armorsmith is simply senseless.
