Character Creation options

posted Mar 29, 2016 18:53:33 by BillMorton
So with the opportunity of our gaming group to start playing a lot of Mutant this summer, we've been playing 2nd Ed for years, we are diving into the rules and starting to work through the character creation process. One of the things that we are thinking of modifying a little is the first career options based on your education. If you got an education from the C or D table then we are thinking of instead of having to spend 1 or 2 Life Points to get the higher access primary careers, we say you can roll on those tables that correspond to your education (C to C or D to D) or Spend 1 Life Point to choose your career from those tables. We think that just makes more sense based on your education.

What do you think, or am I missing something here. Otherwise we're loving what we've seen so far.

The reality is, you bought the game, feel free to make whatever changes you want.(I'm assuming you're the GM) Are the starting characters too tough or too soft for your liking? Change them. Want a character that's a galactic pudding? Make it so.were not going to send the rules police to your house to tell you you can't do something. Have fun with it.

Indeed that is true and why we are doing so. Just curious if anyone else made this house rule or was thinking of something similar.

Hmmmm, White Star Tapioca Pudding - Iconic Career Blood Pudding. That should work, as long as it's not Butterscotch. That evil stuff must have the Dark Symmetry in it. :P

I'm considering allowing Education packages that only provide 8 Attribute points (Column A) to be selected at 0 LP cost.

Happy, what kind of limits are you going to impose on those choices?

Nothing really. I figure that if you can choose something like Teenage Draft v. Military Academy, they shouldn't both have the same LP cost since the latter provides more Attribute points. If you don't mind having 2 fewer Attribute points, then you can choose from Column A for 0 LP while choosing from Column B costs 1 LP.
