Character Creator

posted Sep 22, 2015 08:22:31 by ChristofferLundberg
Hi folks!

We have moved the Mutant Chronicles Character Creator over to its own site. It can now be found at http://mc3.modiphiusapps.hostinguk.org/. You'll find that the Mishima and Imperial stuff from the source books are implemented. Next up, Capitol :)

hi just been reading the rulebook and if i understand correctly you should only get stat increases on your primary ie 1st career
not all of them

ChristofferLundberg said Nov 27, 2015 08:30:37
That is correct. Is that not working in the character creator? If not, something broke in the last update which managed to slip through my testing.

DouglasJessup said Nov 27, 2015 08:36:34
nope gives a stat increase for every career except the iconic one after the primary

Broke a Mishiman char gen when I acquired a Ki Master (Hunting Tiger). The following page won't let me proceed without assigning all skill points, but there's nothing else on the page; no skills to select, no points to assign.

Found errors/Possible errors:

When using the quick character generator with pre-setting TIMELINE: Second Dark Legion War, if I pre-set FACTION: Microcorp/Bauhaus, the character Generator still randomly seta family heritage instead of choosing Bauhaus heritage.

When using the quick character generator with pre-setting TIMELINE: Second Dark Legion War, if I pre-set ENVIRONMENT Luna City, Heritage World, Heritage Foothold, Heritage Hotspot, Orbital/Minor Heritage Location, the “Generate Character”-button only occasionally manages to generate a character (when I tested it, it took 3,6,4 & 9 clicks before a character was generated). If “Sequestered” environment is chosen, the generator generates characters, but it seems as it still makes environment randomly.

When using the quick character generator with pre-setting TIMELINE: Second Dark Legion War, if I pre-set PRIMARY CAREER to “Free career”, the “Free Career”-field is not always filled in. When choosing “Police/Beat Cop” as Primary Career, the generator occasionally chooses other results (magistrate, watchman). If I choose “Unemployed”, the generator still generated random results for First career”.

When using the quick character generator with pre-setting TIMELINE: Second Dark Legion War, if I pre-set the “STATUS”-field to “Unemployed Underclass”, the result sometimes includes Samurai: Ronin/Life and Commoner: Faceless. If I pre-set the “STATUS”-field to “Employed Underclass”, the result sometimes includes “Unemployed Underclass” (Bauhaus) and “Working Lowerclass”. If I pre-set the “STATUS”-field to “Working Lowerclass”, the result sometimes includes “Employed Underclass” and “Commoner: Faceless”. If I pre-set the “STATUS”-field to “Working Middleclass”, the result sometimes includes “Working Lowerclass” and “Upper Class”. If I pre-set the “STATUS”-field to “Upper Class”, the result sometimes includes “Elite Class”. If I pre-set the “STATUS”-field to “Elite Class”, the result sometimes includes “Upper Class” & “Commoner: Faceless”.

I’m also unsure of how to quickly generate a Inquisitor character. Even if I pre-set EDUCATION to “Brotherhood Educated”, there seems to be no option for choosing “Inquisitor” as an ICONIC CAREER.

The last one isn't an error. Brotherhood Educated won't get you to Inquisitor, only Brotherhood Apprentice. The former only means you went to a Brotherhood run school; Brotherhood Apprentice means you join the Brotherhood and train in the Arts of the Light (and gain the Mystic talent, which is required for all the corebook Brotherhood careers).

Sorry, my wrong. I meant Brotherhood Apprenticeship.

Ok, then I can add that as well to the possible errors.
When using the quick character generator with pre-setting TIMELINE: Second Dark Legion War, if I pre-set the "EDUCATION"-field to Brotherhood Apprenticeship, the Character Generator fails to generate a character.

*EDIT*
It is now possible to quick generate Brotherhood characters. See my next reply though...

Yay! I tried again, and now "Brotherhood Apprenticeship" has been replaced with "Brotherhood Apprenticeship (Elite)". When I tried with the same setting (TIMELINE: Second Dark Legion War)and choosed "Brotherhood Apprenticeship (Elite)", it managed to generate a character, although it seems it only generates characters from Faction Imperial or Microcorp with Imperial Heritage.
*EDIT*
Apparently it seems like there's still some wonkyness with this. When I tried to do another quick generated Brotherhood today I realized that the "Brotherhood Apprenticeship (Elite)"-EDUCATION option only can be found if I first choose TIMELINE: FIrst Dark Legion War. The only EDUCATION option if I choose TIMELINE: Second Dark Legion War is still "Brotherhood Apprenticeship", and if I choose that, the Character Gererator fails to generate any character at all. However, If I first choose TIMELINE: FIrst Dark Legion War, then changes back to TIMELINE: Second Dark Legion War, then the "Brotherhood Apprenticeship (Elite)"-EDUCATION option can be found under EDUCATION.

Also, from what I recall, if a character once has entered the Brotherhood, it is no longer connected at all with the Faction it came from and can only choose between Brotherhood careers. If they deviate from the Brotherhood, they will be hunted down as apostates (which only seems logical since the Brotherhood wouldn't want a bunch of ex-Brotherhood people running around with knowledge of bad ass secrets and proficiency in the Art), but in the Character Creator this is fully possible.

Some quirks I've noted:

When creating an Imperial character, the stats for the various 'Clan Special Forces' Iconic careers get replaced by Heretic.

Vestal Iconic career unavailable even if prerequisites met.

Mishima heritage characters cannot get a Brotherhood Apprenticeship.

Characters can only join the Brotherhood as an education result (they should be able to join at any career point)

Cartel weapons/armour not available to Doomtroopers when selecting their free weapons and armour.

Random bug with signature skills preventing spending of points for Focus above 3 on iconic careers.

That's correct as best I recall. Once in the Brotherhood, you're a member for life. You might retire from active service, but you're still a member of the organisation.

After many, many hours trying to unravel the complexity of the Bauhaus character creation, it has finally been implemented.

Thanks for reporting all the bugs, I will take a look at them a.s.a.p.

Keep going strong! Just the amount of bugs shows just how complex your task is!
