Iconic Careers

posted Sep 18, 2015 10:29:20 by DavidNadj
I get everything about the primary careers but the iconic ones confuse me a little. When creating a character it states that you can take two primary careers or one primary and one iconic. Is this the only time you can select an iconic career, as your second phase? Or can you first select two primaries and then choose the iconic as a third or even fourth career phase? If you can, could you also repeat an iconic career?

To clarify: You can only take a single Iconic Career, and you can't repeat it - it's a one-phase-only option, because Iconic Careers give so much more than Primary Careers (twice as many skill ranks, several talents, and often some fairly impressive equipment). You can take it as your third or fourth career phase, but you do get a little less for doing so (Iconic Careers give two ranks of each chosen skill, including their Signature Skill choices, rather than the normal one, but you only get Signature Skills from your first two career phases), and you have to pay a life point to open up the 3rd and 4th career phases regardless of what career you're taking.

Thank you very much Nathan, that clarifies it about the iconic careers. I totally missed that you need a life point in order to select an iconic career as a later choice. It would really be great to see an example of character creation with all four career phases.
