Another term failed

posted Nov 28, 2014 20:57:26 by andrzej.stoj
Hi,

Sorry for my tone, but it's 28th November and looks like Modiphius will fail to deliver MC3 pdfs on time. Again.
How many months we have to wait until we see Mutant Chronicles 3? Or, maybe, years?

Isf there's a chance to resign and get my money back? I don't want to read about another great projects (Dust Adventures) when you didn't deliver MC3. If I knew that it would be that way I would never give my money to Modiphius.

It'll be soon. Chris would know the specifics better than I, but it's all written (I'm currently working on the rules for the sourcebooks), and the matters of art, editing, and layout can only happen so fast.

Though I know the process of creation can be slow, Andrzej's comments aren't totally without merit. The product was promised months ago, and there's been a total information blackout. If a product is delayed, tell people. They understand that issues arise. What is much harder to find understanding for is missing deadline after selfanounced deadline without a word while they put up pictures of (likely well deserved) vacations and field trips and promotional material for all kinds of other games and products.

The most regular updates are provided through the Kickstarter page. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/modiphius/mutant-chronicles-3rd-ed-rpg/posts

Beyond that, Chris isn't the only one working on the project. Personally, I've been working on this game for nearly nine months now, juggling writing and a full-time job up until a couple of months ago (when I started writing full-time), and I'm far from the only one. It's hard work.

I've seen this situation from inside and outside on plenty of occasions. Public Relations is a full-time job, and with small companies there is seldom the means to have a full-time PR person. I understand that it's unsatisfying on the outside to hear nothing while the people inside the company work not only to get current projects finished but also to secure future projects (nobody gives you time off to search for your next job). Unfortunately, RPGs are a niche business, so small groups of people juggling many jobs is the norm.

They've been pretty good about letting people know on the KS page about deadlines. That said, I do get kind of annoyed when I see a new update or email from Modiphius and it's advertising for some other game. If I could offer some feedback, it would be for Modiphius to limit advertising outside kickstarters or products without providing some kind of content or teaser information for people to look at. Maybe even something like "first three rules questions asked on the kickstarter will be answered" given that the rules are all already written.

Latest update: Modiphius was at Dragonmeet in London today (great event, thoroughly exhausting), but before all that, an update went out through Kickstarter - backers now have access to the first complete section of the rulebook in PDF. It's the background sections for Luna City and the main factions (everyone but White Star), so no rules content yet, but everything is getting that much closer to complete.

This, and future updates, can be accessed through the Backerkit website.

Hi Nicholas sorry I missed this thread I've had my head down sorting out artwork for the final sections. We have been giving pretty consistent updates through the Kickstarter page and email updates that go out to those who were added after the Kickstarter do you get those? If not please let me know by email so we can make sure that's sorted. As you'll see the latest pdf's went out before Christmas day and we're working on getting the next chunks of the core book ready for you. You should have the core mechanics and the Lifepath character creation. Skills is coming next.

To be quite honest - the MC kickstarter is one of the fastest to this date, compare this to Exalted 3 or hundreds of others. I have nothing to complain about after backing dozens of KS.
