Questions For Development Team

posted Nov 04, 2014 10:51:13 by ChrisBirch
If you have general questions for us please try to ask here and we'll keep the other threads focused where possible. There will be a thread for discussion of the Alpha and Beta tests as we release them.

Please be patient - we have a LOT of Infinity communities we are posting in and answering questions.

There's no upper limit; as a character can suffer a Wound even if they've still got Vigour remaining, having a lot of Vigour isn't particularly overpowered; it means it takes a lot of small attacks to wear you down, but you can still be hurt by big attacks.

Is there a cap for how high you can make an attribute? You could theoretically have a brawn of 20 for instance.

The example character at the end of life path is messed up for the melee bonus dice, has 3[cd] when she has an eight brawn, so she should not be able to get bonus damage unless there is another thing besides attributes that increase it aside from the temp bonus of momentum

What does the Bureau Toth Agent do? They are not actually in the book

It also seems that some of the careers are pretty strong, for instance you could potentially get multiple sets of power armor. was this intentional or not? Cause that would mean they could sell their extra armor for lots of assets right off the bat

Celestial guard for instance has power armor and combirifle, while special forces and military do not start with armor, if the armored paramilitary uniform is just armored clothing with an extra soak from the armored plating. They probably should have light combat armor

In the armor section, you have a faction loadout, but some players in the group argue that for instance PanO combat armor gets lots of sub gear like visors, but they say that the power armor gets visors and other things in addition to the power armor bonus.

I am arguing that power armor only gets those bonuses listed in the 2nd paragraph of the faction loadout.

So it's been 2 and a half week since we saw the draft of Gear chapters, but you left the cost out so the chapter is as good as useless. Sure it was nice to read about the gear, but I would like to actually play a game of Infinity RPG.
Unfortunately I really need to Gear costs to make that happen. So when are we going to see those. I mean it should not take more than 30 min to go through the file you released to us and add the infomation to the field marked cost.

Another question, what prompted making the Celestial guard into a powered armoured class? In the wargame the celestial guard specifically are a light infantry, where the higher ranks of the imperial service have access to power armour and such.

Celestial guard is probably one of the best classes to get as well, just the equipment alone makes it worth it

Does factional combat armour have higher maintenance costs as factionless combat armour or if all the extra stuff the armour gets doesn't count when it comes to maintenance? Some items on the armor have maintenance costs, so if this is the case maintenance will quickly get expensive if you have lots of things on it

The Factional Armours from the Armour chapter are overpowered to the point of being silly while not conforming to any configuration seen on the table top.
So I made an effort to make something a little more balanced on open ended.

What makes Celestial Powered Armor different from normal Yu Jing Powered armor? I Dug around in the gear docs, but I can't find a reference to "Celestial Powered Armor". The Celestial Guard career specifies "Celestial Powered Armor" so I assume there is a reason it was that specific.

Darling, there is no difference other than the name. They are the same thing, but the name was changed in the Gear chapter.

Are they the same now? If not I would make that recommendation. You should probably change the Celestial Guard Career entry to read "Yu Jing Powered Armor" to avoid confusion.

Sorry, I meant Darkling, my phone decided we are closer than we really are. The designers are going to use only one name in the final book. Whichever they used in the gear chapter as that's the latest.

Hey the Neoterra chapters is missing some crucial info. It lacks any mention of the the Hexaehdron the PanO High Command/Intelligence Agency (basicly the Pentagon and Langley rolled into one)
